Saltery Cove Offroad Fishing Trip

Our most sought-after adventure is a full-day off-road fishing trip to Saltery Cove, spanning 40 round-trip miles of breathtaking scenery and incredible all day fishing. You will travel by UTV or ATV across streams, mountain terrain and under a canopy of alders.

Fishing is packed with lots of bent over rods, screamin reels and line stripping head shakers. Keep your camera nearby because you never know when Yogi and Boo Boo will be down to the river to say “hi” as you fish for salmon.

Book early as this trip does fill up quickly throughout the season.

Your adventure begins at the staging area in the American River parking lot, located at the head of Middle Bay—just a short 20-minute drive south of Kodiak. Upon arrival, you’ll be outfitted with waders, boots, rain jackets, and all the necessary gear for the trip. Before we set off, our team will provide a detailed safety briefing and trip overview.

Once prepped, we’ll load up into our state-of-the-art UTVs for a comfortable and thrilling ride through Kodiak’s rugged mountain terrain. These machines handle river and stream crossings with ease, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the stunning scenery—lush green mountains, vibrant summer wildflowers, and abundant wildlife along the way.

After approximately 1.5 hours, we’ll arrive at the breathtaking Saltery Cove, nestled in Uyak Bay. Our secluded fishing river winds through the valley, teeming with healthy populations of salmon, char, and trout. We’ll strategically fish different locations based on your preferences, using either fly rods or spinning gear. Expect plenty of action, excitement, and, of course, big smiles.

And don’t be surprised if a Kodiak brown bear drops by to check out the fishing—our experienced guides ensure all wildlife encounters remain safe and enjoyable.

At the end of an unforgettable day, we’ll pack up our gear, belongings, and your fresh catch for the return trip. The ride back is just as exhilarating, with stops at scenic points of interest along the way.

Once we return to the staging area, we highly recommend the Kodiak Smokehouse for professional fish processing, but you’re welcome to handle it however you prefer.

This is more than just a fishing trip—it’s an Alaskan wilderness experience you’ll never forget!
